RE: New North Carolina Law...

(A Class C license authorizes the holder to drive any of the following)
A Class C motor vehicle that is not a commercial motor vehicle. {RV}
A combination of noncommercial motor vehicles that have a GVWR of more than 10,000 pounds but less than 26,001 pounds.
OK -- Let me clear up the confusion and maybe slow down the Smart A-- remarks... (Doubtful)
I was thinking that RV owners, like me, who are moving to NC would be interested. ‘See Title’
The old law stated that if you towed over 10,000# you are required to have a Class A or B Non commercial CDL. (Road test is required with 5er) On September 1, 2008 the law changed to the stated NEW law. You can now tow anything over 10,000# if you are less than ‘26,001# on the combined weight,’ with a class C...
I talked with the DPS in Raleigh yesterday for conformation.
That means no additional test for future North Carolina RV owners. This is connected with the 'over wide' boat trailer towing law that was voted on in NC.

RE: Warranty on the 07.5 3500 6.7

Yes I will likely delete the DPF if I can't get the extended warranty. I will not do it before the existing warranty expires.
Either way I will keep this great truck.

Warranty on the 07.5 3500 6.7

I remember reading on this forum about a couple of folks who have been offered life time warranty's on the 6.7 instead of the lemon law buy back. I really like the truck...
I am talking with my dealer about the CEL problems and he said that I should try the lemon law, however, I had rather have the warranty.
If anyone remembers seeing these posts or has had the experience, please respond.
I need lots of evidence.
I have just returned from the dealer with a new turbo. I told them I would see them in a couple of weeks after the next CEL...

RE: Furnace Air filter?

I did the same as axlloy but I used double side tape around the edges and fastened it to the outside of the grill. The thin filter is black and that's the same color as the grill. No one ever noticed ...
It sure picked up lots of crud.

RE: Question about weight..Is my math right?

I had to trade my srw one ton for the truck in signature... My 14,000# fully loaded 5er has a pin weight of 3,000#. The fully loaded srw was much heaver than I thought...
I was shocked when I put them on the scales.

RE: N.C. RV owners take note

LOL - how do you think I got the motorhome to the driver's license office to take the test. I drove it. They told me that I should have a licensed driver bring it over, but also told me they don't ask any questions.
Here is a link to the CDL manual:
NC CDL Manual
Thanks for the information; I am printing your advice to show the arresting officer when I get stopped... This should keep me out of trouble.
Really -- I appreciate your help and thanks for the link, I am printing it as we speak. I hope I can take the driving test in Lincolnton...

RE: N.C. RV owners take note

Anyone in NC that has the class A non CDL please answer...
What publication has the study guide for the written and driving test? I cannot find anything in the drivers’ handbook that specifies. I will not have my 5er with me in December when I take the test, can I use a boat trailer for the driving portion, and does it need to weigh more than 10,000#?
I just got my non CDL class B and I had to use the CDL study guide, but was only required to read the first three sections. The guide is available at the driver's license office. I think you would need to read the additional section on trailers, but wasn't required to take the air brake test since I was going to non-CDL. Also, did not have to do the whole safety check and specific skills test for the non-CDL. Just the written test and a driving test which consisted of highway and city driving. This was for North Carolina.
That's the information I was looking for -- My other problem is this, when I go to take the non-CDL in NC my 5er will be in Texas. I will not have a trailer that's heavy enough for the driving test... If I just get the class C I will then be towing illegally to get the 5er from TX to NC... Maybe I can ask the inspector for ideas...

RE: 5TH AIRBORNE HITCH

I agree, this is the best improvement I've ever added to my 5er. I have tried every hole and can't tell much difference in the ride. Above or below the line seems to make more difference, and barley below is smoother for me.
I use my portable compressor to inflate, and I inflate to 120psi then hook up and deflate until I see the line.

RE: Engine light on the Dodge 6.7

Finally got the truck back today. Monday the 15th. They cleaned the turbo and exhaust. The service Mgr. told me that this problem would continue until Dodge solved the problem... GM and Ford will have similar issues in 2010.
I got the latest flash AY.
